The Self-Help project was set up in 1998 and was financed by a Rotary 3H Grant 98 – 11 of approximately Rs. 7 million supported by the Rotary Clubs of Singapore and Kandy. Based on a revolving loan system the project has, to date, provided loans to more than 2,800 recipients for a value of around Rs. 89 million and enabled underprivileged men and women with entrepreneur skills and ambitions to set themselves up in income generating activities.
