Clean Water – Basic to Life
Over the years, the Rotary Club of Kandy has cooperated with the Rotary Foundation and with Rotary Clubs across the world to provide clean water and good sanitation to poor rural communities and schools. The focus on schools not only ensures that students have adequate sanitation and safe, hygienic conditions but also encourages basic education, especially for girls who are usually more disadvantaged than boys by not having appropriate toilet facilities. Encouraging better hygiene also helps reduce the spread of communicable diseases among school children and gives them an appreciation of the importance of cleanliness.
