4TH OLDEST ROTARY CLUB
PHF & EREY CLUB
Individual effort when well directed can accomplish much, but the greatest good must necessarily come from the combined efforts of many men. Individual efforts may be turned towards individual needs, but combined effort should be dedicated to the service of mankind.
To enhance the quality of life of the poor, the underprivileged and the marginalized in our community and to promote goodwill and peace.
An effective and vibrant club dedicated to serving people, regardless of cultural, racial and religious divides, following the Rotary ideal of Service above Self.
Over the 77 years of its existence, our club has carried out an impressive array of humanitarian activities, worth around USD3,500,000 in partnership with The Rotary Foundation and Rotary Clubs/Districts and governmental and non-governmental organizations around the world.
We contribute financially to global grants and uses our own funds to respond to requests from local communities and organizations and from partners overseas.
Our carefully nurtured global networks have permitted us to contribute substantially to the economic and social wellbeing of the citizens of the World Heritage City of Kandy and to the development of communities not only in the Central Province but also elsewhere in the island. Close links with local governments and individual communities have ensured that our projects are relevant, serve a wide spectrum of local needs and help to improve the lives of the urban and rural poor.
